"How we see Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" - Kindergarteners
Kindergarteners at Jefferson made their own Digital Music Story for the book and song "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom". Students heard the story of "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" by Bill Martin Jr.
and listening to the "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" song that is sung by Crystal Taliefero. Students then used the iPad app called Doodle to illustrate how they see their favorite part of the song/story. We then put the pictures into iMovie and attached the song. The kiddos had fun illustrating their pictures and seeing the final product.
Virtual Fire Safety Lesson
Our Kindergarteners students spoke with Firefighter Dayna Hilton and Molly the Fire Safety Dog all the way from Arkansas. Firefighter Dayna is a children's author, firefighter and director of Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation. She has been featured in USA Today, People magazine, and on PBS Kids.
Firefighter Dayna read the students her story called Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog and talked with them about Fire Safety. They discussed smoke alarms, practicing fire drills at home, having a meeting place, and having 2 ways out. Dayna went through the steps to take when the smoke alarm goes off at home.
Students even took the Junior Firefighter Safety Oath....
and watched Molly perform a few tricks.
They really enjoyed it!! Check out the website: http://www.firesafetydogs.com/
